Have you ever accidentally purchased a book that you already had?

I did on several occasions, and that was it! I knew I needed a unified space for all my books in various formats.

It should be pretty.
It should be easy.
It should be accessible.
It must have stats.

After considering different platforms, I landed on Notion. Anyone can create a free account. It allows the storage of up to 1000 records with a free plan (meaning 1000 books, which is a lot), and it allows you to tinker with the layouts to mould the template to your taste. But the most important thing is that it's primarily database software.

Who doesn't like stats?

The entire system is built around the laziness of its creator. I couldn't be bothered with daily updates and fruitless widgets. All I needed was a straightforward library, a book card with essential information, smart filtering, and fully automated stats in case I was curious. I mean, who doesn't love stats?

After a thorough test drive for 6 months and endless adjustments, I was happy with the results. It was time to add some art and a dashboard. I love a good dashboard as much as an intelligent database.

Sci-fi books and old TV shows inspired the decor. I wanted you to feel like you were boarding your very own spaceship and embarking on an adventure through your new or long-time favourite book.

The dashboard itself primarily focuses on the present. It keeps track of what you're reading, shows what you've read this year, and tracks all the book series and challenges. With a little practice, I no longer need to use anything else but the dashboard, which makes it incredibly convenient as I pop onto the tracker a few times per month to share my thoughts on the last reads.
